Today (Tuesday 24 December), we’ve secured a closure order for a property connected to firearms offences.
The property on Aspinall Crescent, Little Hulton, has been linked to serious organised crime, anti-social behaviour, and firearms, and this closure order is the latest activity carried out by officers in our Salford Challenger Team, the dedicated team tackling organised crime in Salford.
In May 2024 a man was shot in the chest on Aspinall Crescent. He was fortunate to survive his injuries, and an investigation has since secured convictions for three men in connection with this incident. They are due for sentencing in January 2025. The address is also believed to be linked to the recovery of a loaded handgun in December 2024, which has resulted in a woman and two men being charged with firearms offences. Not only was this property linked to serious firearms offences, but children were also originally living at this address.
A multi-agency response has taken place to safeguard these children and remove them from unsafe living conditions, and we have now closed this property for three months ensuring no further criminality can blight this community.
Detective Inspector Rebecca McGuigan from our Salford Challenger Team said: “The severity of offences happening in and around this address is something we just will not stand for, and I hope this closure order will provide a sense of relief and assurance to local residents.
“We have worked with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and the housing association to secure this Order and will continue to use all powers and policies available to us to tackle organised crime in Salford. We’re executing warrants weekly, seizing drugs and weapons, and pursuing offenders who are harming our communities. We are also using different civil orders such as Serious Crime Prevention Orders and Closure Notice Orders to place strict conditions on offenders or remove them from the area to manage the issues sustainably and ensure crime cannot return.
“Our focus remains on intensifying action in Salford and we will continue to make crucial arrests, execute warrants, recover firearms, and hold those involved in the use, supply, and conversion of firearms to account, whilst ensuring our most vulnerable in our society are protected from those intent on causing harm.”
