At approximately 8pm on Sunday 8 December, police were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man on Great Egerton Street in Stockport.
Initial enquiries suggest that the victim was walking along Wilkinson Road towards Heaton Norris Park. He was approached by two men in balaclavas with weapons, believed to be knives, who demanded he handed over his phone. There was an altercation, and the victim suffered a serious injury to his hand.
His iPhone, headphones, and Apple Watch were stolen before the suspects made off from the scene.
An investigation has been launched and extensive CCTV enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances. Police are now appealing to the public for information and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area on Sunday night and who may have dashcam or doorbell footage which will help identify those involved.
One of the suspects has been described as a white male, in his 20s. He has pale blue eyes and was of slim build. The second suspect is also described as a white male in his 20s.
Detective Inspector Craig Turner from our Criminal Investigation Department in Stockport said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by this ordeal and we will continue to support him while we carry out our enquiries.
“You may see additional officers in the area in the coming days while we continue to gather intelligence and offer reassurance to the public.
“We are following several lines of enquiry but we are now in a position to appeal to anyone who might have been in the area that night, who may have witnessed this incident. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage or doorbell footage from the area on Sunday evening. If you have any information that you think could assist us with our enquiries to please get in touch. No matter how insignificant you think the information might be, it could form a vital part of the investigation.”
