A man has been charged with a number of offences as part of an ongoing investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing North West

Muhammad Zakir Arif (22/12/2005) of Harrington Close, Bury has been charged with the following offences:

• One count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

• One count of strangulation or suffocation, contrary to Section 75A(1)(a) and (5) Serious Crime Act 2015.

• Two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place, contrary to Section 139(1) and (6) Criminal Justice Act 1988.

• Two counts of breaching a Section 49 RIPA Court Order.

He has been remanded to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 14 February 2024.
