Jordan O'Reilly (19/07/02), of Croal Avenue, Platt Bridge, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, perverting the course of justice and failing to provide a specimen at Bolton Crown Court today (29/2/24).
O'Reilly was a disqualified driver when he crashed into a funfair while trying to evade a police pursuit in October 2023 after failing to stop for a GMP patrol.
O’Reilly drove in excess of the speed limit and overtook vehicles, before abandoning his moving vehicle to escape.
The vehicle carried on and collided with two members of the public at the funfair leaving one woman with serious injuries.
An investigation was launched and thanks to the help of members of the public O’Reilly was identified as the driver and he was arrested.
After he was released on bail it was established O’Reilly had attempted to engage others into assisting him in evading prosecution.
PC Wood, of GMP Transport Unit, said: “O’Reilly’s disregard to his driving disqualification and actions behind the wheel that day were reckless and dangerous and he put countless people at risk of harm,
"The injuries caused to the victim show the consequences dangerous driving has on other people.
"GMP would like to thank the members of the public who ensured that O’Reilly faced justice for his actions and remind the community that If you know someone who is driving whist disqualified, dangerously or whilst unfit, report it.”
