The National Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week started Monday 5 February, and runs until Sunday 11 February 2024.
This dedicated week-long campaign aims to address the pressing issues of sexual abuse and sexual violence, challenging societal norms, stereotypes, and misconceptions surrounding rape and other sexual offences (RAOSO). The weeklong campaign also aims to shine a spotlight on how much support is available across the UK. This includes medical professionals, mental health services and charities, amongst others.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) remain committed to tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and will continue to signpost victims and survivors to our dedicated regional support services which can support you regardless of whether you wish to receive police support or not.
GMP take all reports of rape and other sexual offences extremely seriously and will investigate every report sensitively, thoroughly and to ensure that the victim/survivor feels supported at all times and when they feel ready to do so.
The National Operation Soteria Victim Experience Survey remains open until Sunday 30 June 2024. The survey aims to give a voice to all victims and survivors of rape or sexual assault whose case has been investigated by a UK police force. No matter what your view, both positive and negative, will be valuable in helping police forces across the UK to improve their response in dealing with rape and other sexual offences. You can complete the survey more than once, either about the same case if your experience has changed, or about a different case.
Complete the survey here.
Report & Support
If you or someone you know has been a victim of rape or other sexual offences, we encourage you not to suffer in silence and report it to the police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.
You can also report information and crimes on our website (www.gmp.police.uk) using the 'report' tool. Alternatively, you can report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
There are also lots of organisations and support agencies available across Greater Manchester that can help and provide support for you. For more information on rape and serious sexual assault and the support services available to you, please visit our support pages.
