Three arrested following morning warrants in Tameside and Oldham

Three people were arrested this morning (14 February) as Operation Challenger conducted a warrant apiece in Oldham and Tameside.

The early wake-up calls in Taurus Street, Oldham, and  Laburnum Avenue, Ashton, were part of the ongoing GMP operation, which sees officers tackle serious organised crime across each of Greater Manchester’s districts.

Two men, aged 24 and 26, and one woman, aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis. They remain in custody for questioning.

In Oldham, officers seized a small quantity of cannabis, and approximately £3,000 in cash. The disruption work ensures that officers make their presence in the community known and remind those suspected of being involved in criminality that they can expect a knock at the door.

Sergeant Ian Parker, from GMP’s Challenger team, said: “If we receive information about criminality in our community, we will always act. In this case, it was a nice early morning knock-on for the residents.

“While not everything will result in the hugest finds, it all counts towards the greater intelligence picture, which helps us keep tackling criminality day-in, day-out. Our work is vital to ensuring that we get drugs and dangerous criminals off the street and prevent them from causing harm in our towns.

Lots of people coming and going from a house, or suspicious behaviour that you think is just plain wrong?
