A man was arrested this morning following a neighbourhood-led triple warrant strike in Wythenshawe.
The grey and wet conditions of course provided no deterrence to officers, who gathered from across the City of Manchester district to launch the morning operation.
Acting on intelligence gathered from within the community, the three teams visited Gladeside Road, Brookcroft Road, and Broadley Avenue, making the early wake-up calls at around 8am this morning (9 February).
During the course of the searches, approximately £15,000 was seized under the proceeds of crime act, while one man, aged 35, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.
Wythenshawe’s neighbourhood team regularly collate and work on intelligence which is recorded within the community – and want the public to know that if you report it, they will act. If you believe someone is engaged in illegal practices, officers from your local team will be keen to hear from you.
In addition to conducting warrants, officers will regularly proactively patrol known hotspots, work with specialist teams when necessary, and engage with the community to help ensure they are providing the best possible service.
Sergeant George Priestley, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “Ultimately, when it comes to warrants– when we apply for one, have it approved, get the resources, and hammer a door in – it’s with the community’s protection and concerns in mind.
“This work enables us to significantly disrupt suspected criminality while reminding those who conduct illegal behaviour in our area that we are around. If you are a criminal, know that we are here and that we will act.
“If you are in Wythenshawe, please do get in touch with us should you have any issues. You can also report information on crime by calling 101, visiting gmp.police.uk, or by contacting Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
