A stop-search find of multiple wraps of crack and heroin led to a further search last night … which uncovered hundreds more wraps and a small cannabis farm.

Officers from Operation Revoke were out patrolling in the Bury area last night, as part of the Op’s district-led mission to tackle serious organised crime and drugs supply in the Moorside area of the town.

The team initially stopped a vehicle with two occupants on Brandlesholme Road, Bury last night (30 January), as part of the operation’s proactive patrolling, which sees a range of officers out monitoring the streets.

A search of the occupants revealed 67 wraps of crack and heroin – with an estimated street value of £700

Following on from the stops, house searches were subsequently carried out – revealing a further 520 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin worth £5,200, as well as £1,000 in cash and designer watches.

At one address in Ramsbottom, a small cannabis farm was found, complete with abstracted electricity. There were 9 plants recovered , now in the process of being bagged and disposed of.

One man, aged 24, has now been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A – Heroin and Crack Cocaine, and money laundering.

Another man, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A, cultivation of cannabis, abstracting electricity and possession of offensive weapons in a private place.

Both remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Craig Murray, from GMP’s Revoke and Challenger teams, said: “Drugs cause an untold amount of harm in our community and to get hundreds of wraps of Class A drugs off the streets is an excellent result for the Revoke team.

“Revoke seized more than a million pounds worth of drugs last year and I am glad we are already building on that tally as we come towards the end of the first month of 2024. This year, we are looking at continuing in this theme, while working closely with communities to ensure that we help provide the right care and signposting to those who are struggling with drug addiction.

“If you have any information about drugs in the Moorside and wider Bury area, please do get in touch with us. You can contact police on 101, or via the reporting section of our site at gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
