Officers in Trafford are investigating after a £500 betting slip was stolen in Stretford and later cashed in.
The slip was stolen from Chester Road at around 11:50am on 4 January 2024 and would have won the owner around £750 - it was later cashed out for £400 in Manchester city centre.
Investigators have now released a photo of a man they believe may hold vital information and have logged a crime for theft by finding.
Neighbourhood Inspector Scott Wolstenholme said: “The slip could easily have been handed in and has ultimately deprived someone of a large amount of money, and we welcome any information that leads to an arrest.
“We have neighbourhood officers out and about across the Trafford district, so if anyone has any concerns or wants to report a crime, please speak to them.”
Information can be reported via www.gmp.police.uk or 101 quoting log 2498-04012024, or shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always dial 999.
