More than £200,000 worth of counterfeit clothing found after warrant executed in Manchester

More than £200,000 worth of counterfeit clothing was found during a morning warrant in Manchester earlier this week (17 January), as officers continue to clamp down on criminality in the area.

Neighbourhood officers from Cheetham Hill and GMP's Challenger team conducted the warrant in Park Place with support from the specialist Operation Vulcan team.

The officers found multiple boxes of clothes and footwear, believed to have a street value of approximately £215,000. The items were seized and will be repurposed or destroyed where appropriate.

No arrests were made during the warrant but significant intelligence was gained as local officers utilise skills obtained due to Vulcan's success in tackling counterfeit items in the area.

The neighbourhood team are committed to keeping the Strangeways and Cheetham Hill area free of crime and work closely with both Vulcan and Challenger when needed to tackle crime.

Inspector Antonia Jackson, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “Investigating and tackling criminality in our communities is a fundamental part of neighbourhood policing and we will utilise all of the resources available as we go about this.

“Operation Vulcan has been active in this area for a number of months now and given the nature of the finds, we worked closely with the Vulcan team to assess the items and plan out steps going forward.

“As a neighbourhood team, we work hard to tackle all types of crime – from ASB issues and drug dealers to off-road bikes and, in this case, counterfeit clothing.”
