Detectives in Tameside, following an appeal over the weekend, have made an arrest in relation to an ongoing investigation.
A 23-year-old man was arrested last night (Sunday 7 July 2024) on suspicion of serious sexual offences and remains in custody for questioning.
This is in connection with an incident against a woman that took place on the morning of Friday 5 July 2024 when a woman was walking past Grafton Street, just off Clark Way.
She is currently being assisted by our specialist officers and her wellbeing and care is at the heart of our ongoing work.
Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, from our Tameside district said; “Whilst we make progress in this investigation, we would like to thank the local community for sharing our appeals and assisting us in our investigation.
“Our enquiries are ongoing with patrols plans in place, as well as other officers working around the clock to bring the person responsible for this horrific act to justice.
