At around 7:30am this morning (Friday 12 July 2024) we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Todmorden Road in Rochdale.
Two vehicles, one a Citroen Berlingo and the other a Kawasaki motorbike have collided as the car was doing a turn at the junction of Ferrand Lodge.
Despite the best attempts of emergency services, sadly a 35-year-old man who was the rider of the motorbike was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His family are continuing to receive specialist support at this time.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Page from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said; “First and foremost our thoughts with the loved ones of the man who has tragically passed away in this incident.
“Our enquiries are in its early stages still, but we are keeping an open mind into what happened. If anyone has witnessed the movements of either the Citroen or a black Kawasaki motorbike before 7:30am this morning then please get in touch.
"The priority is obtaining as much evidence as possible to help with our investigation, so if there is any additional detail, including dashcam footage, you are asked to all 0161 856 4741 direct or 101 quoting incident 551 of 12/07/2024.”
Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
