Trio busted after large quantity of drugs worth an estimated £200k found in Eastlands area

Three men – aged 19, 21 and 22 – were arrested on Ashton New Road, Manchester last night (Monday 8 July 2024) on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after our officer sprang into action.

An eagle-eyed officer from our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) stopped a black Ford Fiesta on the junction of Graymare Lane at around 7:30pm yesterday evening.

Alongside assistance from our Tactical Aid Unit (TAU), after searching the vehicle two large blocks of white powder were located under the passenger seat. Valued at an estimated £200,000.

All three men have been detained and remain in police custody for questioning at this time with an investigation ongoing by our dedicated Challenger team into suspected drugs supply.

Chief Inspector Michael Parker from our Roads Policing Unit said: “This was an excellent recovery from our officer who trusted their instinct after spotting something suspicious, resulting in a large quantity of drugs being taken off the streets.

“Tackling drugs supply and the criminal use of Greater Manchester’s road network continues to be one of our priorities, as it has devasting and far-reaching consequences for the safety of our communities and I want to make it clear that we are continuing to take robust and proactive measures to continue to listen to your concerns and deal with those who are intent on breaking the law.”
