Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after a further speed camera was targeted yesterday evening (Wednesday 10 July 2024).
Officers were alerted to two suspects who were in the process in cutting down a speed camera on Manchester Road in Carrington at around 8.35pm.
District and specialist officers attended the location, searching for the offending vehicle. The vehicle in question was found along with the two suspects who were detained.
They currently remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Richard Lees from our Trafford district said: “We are making further enquiries in relation to this incident and to see if there are any connections between this one and the damage to the other cameras in south Manchester.
“I would like to thank the member community who called in and altered us to the incident, this led to a swift response with us apprehending two suspects in the same evening.
“If anyone has any information that could assist us with our investigations, please contact us directly on 101.
“Alternatively, you can remain anonymous by contacting our independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
