Officers are appealing for information after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Chorlton last night (Friday 21 June 2024).
The incident occurred at 7:46pm on Manchester Road after police and our North West Ambulance Service colleagues attended and found a 16-year-old boy with a large laceration to his back, believed to have been caused by a machete.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment on his injury, which is not life-threatening or life-changing. He remains in hospital.
No arrests have been made and our enquiries are ongoing.
Inspector Shauna Hayden, of our City of Manchester South Division, said: “Our investigation is underway and we are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.
“Extra patrol officers both on foot and in cars have been deployed around the local area. Please do not be alarmed by this – our officers are there to speak to you if you have any concerns and they will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.
“As of yet we have not arrested anyone in relation to this incident, so we are appealing for the public’s help in identifying any witnesses who can help us locate possible offenders.
