The arrests came after officers from GMP’s City of Manchester Challenger team, a specialist team targeting serious and organised criminality, conducted an early morning warrant in Aked Close, Manchester.
Upon entering the property, officers located and seized four firearms and ammunition from within the house.
Six males between the ages of 14 – 57 and four women between ages of 20 – 52 were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. They all remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Chris Woodburn of GMP’s City of Manchester Challenger team, said: "Firearms have no place on our streets and our team are robust in their response to stamping out this type of crime ensuring the public are safe and also feel safe.
“These four firearms have now been taken out of circulation, preventing them from potentially being used to cause serious harm in our communities.
“Although we have made ten arrests, our work is ongoing to disrupt serious crime across Greater Manchester but we need your help.
“We continue to act on information that is provided to us from the public so that we are one step ahead of organised crime and we will remain relentless in our pursuit of people who we suspect of being involved in it.
“In order for us to act, we need you and your community to let us know of any concerns you have and we urge you to please get in touch with us if you believe crime is taking place in your area.”
