At around 8.30pm last night (10 March 2024), Road Policing officers in the Bolton area engaged in a pursuit with a suspicious vehicle after spotting it in the Bury Road area of the town
Shortly thereafter, the vehicle, a Skoda, entered the opposing side of the carriageway on the A666, after entering the slip road from St Peter’s Way, before colliding with another vehicle, a BMW.
Five people were treated at the scene and a number were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Three of those injured are from the Skoda, with two from the BMW.
In line with normal procedure, the incident has been referred to the IOPC.
As the investigation progresses, detectives from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information.
