Man charged after Operation Venture find offensive weapons in Bradshawgate, Bolton

John Webster (12/10/1987) of Jeffrey Street, Wigan has been charged with the following offences.

• Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
• Possession a knife blade and/or sharp pointed article in a public place.
• Possession a controlled drug namely Cannabis (Class B).
• Obstruct and/or resist a constable in execution of his/her duty.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on Monday 11 March.

These charges relate to an arrest of a man in possession of an offensive weapon and bladed article in Bolton Town Centre on the night of Friday 8 March 2024.

Inspector Jon Ezard of GMP’s Operation Venture said; “Our deployments in key hotspot areas means we were able to continue to support the Bolton district and its officers during their night-time economy patrols. I would like to remind the public they can continue to report any incidents to GMP by calling 101 or dialling 999 in an emergency.”
