At around 6:30pm on Friday 2 February 2024, Greater Manchester Police were called to Alexandra Park near to the main carpark off Cheadle Old Road to reports of a road traffic collision.
It is believed that an electric motorcycle collided with the metal access barrier.
The rider, a 32-year-old man, was taken to hospital, but he has sadly since passed as a result of his injuries.
GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time around the park in the moments leading up to and after the collision, as they are aware people kindly attended to the rider in the aftermath of the collision before emergency services arrived.
