On Saturday 25 May 2024, at around 10pm, officers were called to reports of an assault near Higher Road in Urmston.
Officers attended the scene, and a 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a cut to the side of his head.
From conducting initial enquiries, detectives have established that the victim was involved in an altercation at a pub on Stretford Road, the victim was then followed near to Higher Road park by approximately three men on bikes who chased him and cut the side of his head.
The 17-year-old victim remains in hospital for treatment to his injuries which are considered serious but not life threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Walton, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This is a vicious attack on a 17-year-old boy who has sustained a nasty injury to the side of his head. It is lucky that the injuries weren’t even more serious.
“We understand that the local community will be shocked by this news but, through initial enquiries we believe this is a targeted incident with no threat to the wider community.
“As a result, we will continue to provide a visible presence in the area in the form of on-foot and vehicle patrols whilst detectives investigate a thorough timeline of events leading up to this incident.
“So far, we are exploring some promising lines of enquiry and we are appealing for any information you may have. Were you in the area and saw something suspicious yesterday evening on Higher Road in Urmston? I am particularly keen to obtain any mobile phone or dashcam footage anyone has of the incident or its immediate aftermath.
