Officers have secured an arrest after two people were taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident outside a bar on Silver Street.
At approximately 00.40 hours on Sunday Morning (5 May 2024), officers responded to reports of a serious assault, in which two men, aged 45 and 34, received injuries.
Thankfully, their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A 29 year old male has now been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He remains in custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are now appealing to the public for any information or footage that could assist the investigation.
Superintendent Mike Walsh, from GMP's Bury district, said: "It is very fortunate that the injuries sustained in this incident were not more serious, and I am glad that someone is now in custody in connection with the investigation.
"However, these sort of incidents cause natural concern - and I want the wider Bury community to know that we will never tolerate such actions within our town.
"While we have already made an arrest, work is still ongoing to understand the full circumstances and we are determined to secure the right result. Violence has no place on our streets and I would urge anyone with information that will help enquiries to make a report to police."
