On Sunday 26 May at around 9.30pm we received reports of a firearms discharge at a property on Aspinall Crescent in Salford.
A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his shoulder.
Detectives in Salford’s Crime Investigation Department continue their enquiries and are working their way through a lengthy and complex investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Humphreys of GMP’s Salford district, said: “It is extremely lucky that the victim didn’t sustain more serious injuries after the firearms discharge on Aspinall Crescent.
“We share the concern of our local residents who are rightly alarmed by the incident on Sunday, I want to reassure you that we have robust uniformed patrols in place in the area whilst we investigate.
“If you have any concerns, or want to speak to them, please do not hesitate; they are there for you.
“This type of behaviour is unacceptable, and I would like to remind people that they cannot just take the law into their own hands. Regardless of where you live, if a crime is committed in Greater Manchester, we will use all resources available to track you down.”
“Although we have made 5 arrests so far, we are still appealing to the public that may have any information that could help our enquiries to get in touch and do the right thing.
“If you saw anything suspicious in the area in the evening of Sunday 26 May please get in touch with us, it could be the missing piece of information we need to progress our investigation.
“We ask that you report any information directly to us by contacting us on 101 quoting log number 3266 26/5/2024.
“You can also report information via www.gmp.police.uk or through the independent charity Crimestoppers - anonymously – on 0800 555 111.”
