Detectives make more arrests following warrants in relation to Busk Lane, Oldham incident

Yesterday (Friday 24 May 2024), officers from our Major Incident Team, supported by specialised colleagues, conducted a number of warrants across Greater Manchester following extensive enquiries into an incident this week within the Chadderton area.

Back on Wednesday 22 May 2024, at around 8:30pm patrols were called to Royal Oldham Hospital Accident & Emergency as well as to Busk Road, following a man presenting himself with gunshot wounds and another receiving serious knife wounds at the scene.

As the investigation continues by dedicated detectives, four arrests have been made in connection with this incident:

• A 23-year-old woman was arrested for assisting an offender and is currently on police bail.

• A 25-year-old woman who was also arrested for assisting an offender is on police bail too.

• A 28-year-old man who was arrested for attempt murder is back in hospital for further treatment to his injuries.

• Another man, aged 22, arrested for attempt murder also remains in hospital being treated for his injuries.

Detective Inspector Alex Wilkinson from our Major Incident Team tasked with the investigation said; “Although our enquiries are still in its early stages, we are appealing to the public for further information and details from this week to help us formulate what exactly happened in the moments leading up to two people becoming seriously injured.

“I understand the concern this will have raised around the areas but want to provide reassurance we are conducting regular patrols, searching through hours of CCTV and making progress to make sure we find all those responsible and will be relentless until we do so.

“Our work will continue this weekend and next week but recent intelligence suggests it was a targeted attack.
