Investigators are appealing for information following a road traffic collision between a car and motorcycle in Droylsden.
At around 2.50pm on Thursday 9 May, we responded to a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles; a motorcycle and a white Q50 Sports Infiniti, travelling Westbound on Manchester Road in Droylsden.
The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene, however the motorcycle riders did not.
Through initial enquiries we believe the motorcycle was ridden by two people who both sustained injuries as a result of the collision and subsequent flames.
It is believed the motorcycle had accelerated past traffic close to a police car shortly before the incident, and - while there was no pursuit - our Professional Standards Directorate are reviewing the incident as standard practice.
As the motorcycle attempted to overtake another vehicle, it collided with a car, throwing both occupants from it.
An 18-year-old man presented himself to receive treatment for potentially life-changing burns following the crash.
We are appealing to the public to help us locate the second person who was riding the motorcycle. If you witnessed this incident or saw someone possibly without lower clothing running nearby around the time of this collision, you may have crucial evidence to support our investigation.
Officers are additionally keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 1949 of 09/05/2024.
