Our Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) arrested two men in their 40s on suspicion of burglary in relation to a stolen Mercedes Sprinter van and £19,000 being taken from a local business on Egerton Street in Farnworth on Monday 20 May 2024.
The vehicle they were travelling in which was used during the burglary, activated an Automictic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera in the area which alerted our officers who responded and began to track them.
After following it a short distance TVIU swooped and boxed the vehicle, bringing it to a complete stop and arresting the two men. Following the arrests, our officers located some of the stolen cash, a number of mobile phones and other items relevant to the investigation.
Both men remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Carla Deighton from our Bolton Neighbourhood Crime said: “I would like to thank our colleagues in TVIU for responding so quickly to this incident.
“Their assistance has taken two burglars off the streets of Bolton and helped us recover some of the stolen items that were taken from the local businesses in question.
"We understand that burglary is one of the most intrusive crimes you can experience whether it is your home or your business, and we will not tolerate it in our communities.”
