A wanted man was stopped in his tracks by Roads Policing Unit yesterday after officers spotted a vehicle driving suspiciously on Princess Road
Our Roads Policing Unit officers received information that a vehicle had entered GMP’s force area by colleagues in neighbouring forces.
Information suggested that the vehicle which had been involved in a spate of thefts of car wheels from Range Rovers across Cheshire and Manchester in recent months.

A good spot and quick response by officers resulted in the vehicle being stopped near to the city centre and several Range Rover wheels were located in the car as being suspected stolen.
The driver was also wanted by Lancashire Police for Indecent Exposure and Fraud.
A 26 year old man was arrested on suspicion of theft, indecent exposure and fraud and a joint investigation by our officers in our neighbouring forces.
Police Sergeant Luke Summerfield of GMP’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Thanks to the quick-thinking actions of officers in Roads Policing we were able to safely stop the vehicle and make the arrest and it’s a great example of cross-border work with neighbouring forces to proactively tackle criminals using the road network to commit offences.
"Whilst we continue to collect intelligence on suspicious vehicles, we urge the public to report anything suspicious or out of place to us.
