Additional police presence as emergency services respond to an incident in Moss Side

There is an emergency service presence on Great Southern Street in Moss Side this morning (Sunday 17 November 2024).

Officers were called at around 5am to reports that two people had been stabbed.

Officers alongside colleagues in the emergency services attended and despite the best efforts of first responders two men were treated at the scene for their injuries. They have both sadly been pronounced dead.

We have arrested one man in his 20s who has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

We are treating this as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.

We thank the public for their cooperation and patience as there is a cordon in place on Great Southern Street and into the surrounding area. We are asking the public to continue avoiding the area as there is a large emergency service presence while we establish the full circumstances of the incident this morning.
