Officers are investigating after a man was stabbed in the Thornton Street North area of Manchester yesterday (28 October).
At around 2.15pm, we received a report from the ambulance service that a man had received a serious injury, upon which we attended and the man, aged 34, was taken to hospital.
Detectives believe that the incident was isolated, with no wider risk to the public.
Officers will be in the area over the coming days and will be there to provide reassurance and answer any queries that residents have.
Detective Inspector Jonny Dyer, from GMP's Manchester district, said: "We are investigating the circumstances of this incident and are now appealing for the public’s assistance as we continue with our initial enquiries.
“A man has been left with serious injuries during this shocking attack, and we are working at pace to find those responsible. These sort of acts have no place on our streets and in our communities, and we are committed to tackling this sort of crime wherever it presents itself.
“I would ask anyone who lives in the area and may have seen or heard something suspicious around the time of the incident to please get in touch. This includes anyone who may have relevant dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage – even a small amount of information could hugely assist our investigation.”
