Boy charged with attempted murder in Gorton investigation

A 16-year-old boy has today (Sunday 13 October 2024) been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article, as detectives continue to investigate an incident on Hampden Crescent, Gorton, on Monday 7 October.
The boy is set to appear at Manchester Youth Court on Monday 14 October.
An 18-year-old man arrested earlier this week has been bailed pending further enquiries.
This relates to a reported firearms discharge and altercation, which left a man with life changing injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicola McCulloch said, “Local officers continue to have an increased visible presence in the area to provide the local community with reassurance, after what we know has been a shocking incident.
“Our investigation is very much ongoing and our call for witnesses and footage remains in place. We urge anyone who has not yet come forward to do so.”
