At around 11.40am on Wednesday 9 October 2024, we responded to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Oxford Road, Atherton.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly after.
The death was referred for a Home Office post-mortem and the results upgraded the case to suspicious death investigation.
The 24-year-old’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Nadeem Muhammed Begum (02/01/1972), of Oxford Road, Atherton, has subsequently been charged with murder.
He has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Bolton Crown Court on 14 November 2024.
