Officers are appealing for information following reports of a serious assault in Royton in the early hours of Sunday morning (27 October).
At around 2am, a woman was walking down Rochdale Road in Royton with a friend when a group of males have approached the pair.
During a subsequent altercation, a punch was thrown, which left the woman with severe injuries. She attended hospital hours later and remains there for treatment.
A group of around 3-4 males were later seen running away from the area towards Rochdale.
Officers are now appealing for information as they continue their investigation.
Detective Sergeant Kate Dawson, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “This shocking attack has left a woman in hospital with severe injuries, for which she is still being assessed. No-one should have to endure horrific incidents like this and we are investigating all aspects as we continue our enquiries.
“I would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch with us. This could be CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam, or doorbell footage that was captured from around the time of the incident. Even small information or detail could greatly benefit our work.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101 or our Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk, quoting log number 3419 of 27/10/24.
Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
