At around 7.05pm on Sunday 29 September 2024, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Grimshaw Lane, Rochdale.
It is believed that a Nissan Micra was travelling on Grimshaw Lane where it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing at a junction.
The pedestrian – a man in his 70s – sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died a short time later.
The driver of the Micra remained at the scene, no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
