At around 12pm yesterday Wednesday 2 October 2024, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Burton Street, Middleton.
It is believed that a Toyota Prius collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian – a woman in her 70s – sustained serious life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention and remains in custody.
Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
