Joseph Yuen (29/04/1994) of Bournville Drive, Bury was sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape.
The rape was reported to police as a non-recent offence in January 2021, with offences occurring in the months prior to this.
The victim was routinely raped, often when she was intoxicated and woke up to the offence taking place.
In later text conversations between the offender and victim, Yuen made incriminating text admissions to some offences where he apologised for what he did.
At a trial earlier this year, Yuen was found guilty of two counts of rape.
He received a 10-year prison sentence at Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday (Thursday 3 October 2024).
DC Leacy said: “Firstly I would like to thank the victim for coming forward and reporting these incidents to the police. This was a difficult investigation and as a force, we commend every victim for their bravery and strength in doing the difficult thing of reporting it in the first place.
“The victim found the courage to come forward in 2021, and Yuen was arrested not long after. Yuen denied all the offences put to him and accepted making the apologetic texts, but stated these were not actual admissions of guilt.
“This sentencing should provide the victim with some closure that Yuen is behind bars.”
