We’re continuing to bring people to justice for their roles in the violent disorder seen in Greater Manchester a month ago.
Our dedicated team of experienced officers from across the organisation have been investigating the incidents in Manchester city centre, Piccadilly Gardens, Newton Heath, Rochdale and Bolton in late July and early August.
We have so far made 122 arrests leading to 102 charges and 60 offenders being convicted for their actions.
This has followed close work with the Crown Prosecution Service and other local criminal justice partners to ensure that offenders have received swift justice for their reprehensible actions.
This has included a bus driver who was assaulted in Newton Heath, officers who had a plank of wood of thrown at them Piccadilly Gardens and officers who had bricks and bottles thrown at them in Newton Heath.
We have worked tirelessly to identify suspects and will continue to do so.
Specialist officers and staff have reviewed thousands of hours of CCTV, body-worn video, and footage on social media to gauge a comprehensive picture of the disorder that took place and the people responsible.
We have received more than 100 reports from members of the public helping us bring people to justice.
Thanks to your help, we have managed to identify seven people and are appealing for information about the identity of the remaining 22 people we are wanting to speak to relating to disorder:
Bolton town centre disorder suspects
Piccadilly Gardens disorder suspects
Detective Chief Inspector Jill Billington, of our Serious Crime Division, said: “The criminal disorder we saw in areas of Greater Manchester a month ago was shocking and struck fear right in the heart of our communities.
“Since then, we’ve worked through thousands of hours of video footage to identify and bring to justice violent individuals who assaulted police officers, members of the public, and damaged the property of local businesses, police, and people just going about their daily lives.
“Your help has seen more than 180 reports of information submitted to us which has helped identify 124 suspects. Many have been convicted in court and are now serving long prison sentences. Your help in achieving this swift justice has no doubt helped stop this disorder escalating.
“There are still some people out there who haven’t yet received a knock on the door from us, and we’d like to speak to them about the disorder. Many of our suspects may have been through court, but we’re not done yet.
“If you recognise any of these people then please get in touch and help ensure all those involved are brought to justice.”
