Officers have been working tirelessly alongside RSPCA to rehome 71 dogs and puppies which were seized from two properties in Bury.
Following information from a member of the public, officers attended two properties in the Radcliffe area of Bury and rescued dogs and puppies they believed were connected to illicit puppy sales.
Two men (a 51-year-old and a 37-year-old) and two women (a 50-year-old and a 31-year-old) were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and have since been bailed pending further investigation.
Inspector Halligan from our Dog Legislation Unit said: “Following intelligence received from a member of the public, we have been able to seize dogs and puppies – most of which were kept in extremely bad conditions, and alongside RSPCA we have given them new leases of life.
“Two properties have been searched, and alongside rescuing the dogs, we have recovered equipment consistent with the fraudulent and unlawful sale and breeding of puppies.
“Anyone with concerns over illegal puppy sales should contact Greater Manchester Police using the online reporting method or calling 101. Animal welfare concerns can also be reported to the RSPCA.”
