Police appeal for information following stabbing in North Manchester

Shortly after 4:30pm yesterday (Thursday 13 February) we were called to reports that a teenage boy had been stabbed on Crescent Road, Manchester.

Initial enquiries suggest that the victim was approached as he got off the tram at Abraham Moss and was confronted by a group of youths wearing black clothing and balaclavas.

It’s believed that, following an altercation, the victim was stabbed. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

At this stage, no arrests have been made, but enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have crucial information which may assist with the progression of the investigation, to come forward.

Detective Constable Joe Adair from our North Manchester Criminal Investigation Department said: “We know that news of an incident of this nature will be concerning, especially owing to the ages of those involved.

“Extensive work is ongoing to identify and locate suspects, and we are working with a range of specialist partners to ensure the victim is safeguarded.

“Work is also ongoing with a variety of youth services and charities across Greater Manchester to ensure preventative work is done with local children so that, collectively, we can tackle knife crime and youth violence.

“Whilst we do believe this to be a targeted attack, additional patrols have been deployed to the area to offer reassurance to the local community and commuters. We are urging anyone who was in the area yesterday, or has any information that will assist our enquiries, comes forward and speaks with police by either talking to local officers in the area or by calling 0161 856 1146 and quoting log 2355 of 13/02/25.”
