Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Police Trust have been supporting the needs of local clubs and projects in our communities by providing funds to charities and organisations.

Cadishead Rhinos Rugby League Club recently received funding from the trust which has helped them purchase dozens of new rugby balls and equipment that the children can benefit from which will help them build their skills and confidence, and they have also purchased vital new medical supplies.

We got to visit the club at their site in Lord’s Street, Cadishead, to see the club’s insightful work with local youth and to learn how this funding is helping to support the team’s work in the community.

Cadishead Rhinos ARLFC were successful in their bid for funding through the High Sheriff’s Police Trust, which was established in 1994 to promote a safer and better quality of life for people through crime prevention initiatives and community organisations to make Greater Manchester a better place to live and work.

During the visit, our officer’s met with Matty Taylor, their new club chairman, and got to meet some of the players who are benefitting from this funding.

Alongside their daily duties, our PCSO’s spend time out in our communities, getting involved in with different initiatives to help foster positive relationships with young people and offer them guidance and healthy alternatives to steer them away from getting caught up in crime and anti-social behaviour.

Over the last 30 years, the High Sheriff’s Police Trust has contributed to hundreds of local projects, investing over £10,850,000 into crime reduction and community safety projects across Greater Manchester.

The aim of the trust is to improve the quality of life of all communities in the Greater Manchester area, with vulnerable groups and victims of crime being priorities.

Police Community Support Officer Nigel Kirk from our Salford district said: “It’s important that community groups like Cadishead Rhinos Rugby League Club get the funding they need to support our younger generation in attending sports events and activities, providing them with a space to express themselves through activities and sport.

“I'm proud we could make this commitment to the club and the young people of Salford.”

Inspector Steven Corless from our Salford district said: “The work that organisations like this do is second-to-none and I hope that the money donated will help provide a safe and supportive environment for our youths to explore new skills and enhance their abilities and confidence."
