Since the start of this operation in 2023, we have looked into various car meets alongside partners in Greater Manchester, which provided evidence of vehicles breaching a Public Space Protection Order.
278 registered keepers have been dealt with by local councils and courts, with fines totalling over £12,000.
Chief Inspector Michael Parker from our Safer Transport Team said: “We take these illegal car meets very seriously, they are advertised and promoted on social media with often large crowds in attendance.
“These events pose serious risks to both participants and bystanders, including property damage, significant noise disturbance to local communities and sadly in some cases, fatal collisions. These events often block public roads and can prevent emergency vehicles from reaching those in need.”
