Man charged with murder following death of a teenage boy in Middleton on Tuesday 22 July 2025

A man has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of a teenage boy in Middleton on Tuesday 22 July 2025.

At around 11.55am that day, officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and an e-bike on Rowrah Crescent in the Middleton area.

Emergency services immediately attended but despite their best efforts, the boy was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Terrence King (10/12/1965), of Caslterigg Drive, Middleton, has now been charged with murder and was subsequently remanded in custody, appearing at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Thursday 24 July 2025).

He has been further remanded to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday 28 July 2025.

A 15-year-old boy previously arrested on suspicion of theft as part of the wider investigation has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This investigation is already moving at considerable pace and we have now secured a murder charge as part of our work.

“There is still much to do, and our officers are carefully combing through all available evidence to build a picture of the events of that day.

“I am aware of footage of the incident circulating online, and I would ask people to not share this footage due to ongoing proceedings, and out of respect for the boy’s family, who I would remind people are grieving at this time.
