Three arrested on suspicion of drug and immigration offences in Tameside

This morning (Tuesday 4 March 2025) officers from the Hyde Godley Neighbourhood Team along with TMBC Trading Standards, Environmental Services and Immigration officers conducted a warrant at a business premises in the town centre.

The strike was conducted off the back of intelligence gathered by the four agencies as well as information submitted by concerned members of public in the local area.

Three men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class C drugs and immigration offences, they remain in police custody for questioning and enquires are ongoing.

This warrant is part of a crackdown on illegal activities involving business premises such as barbers and newsagents selling illegal vapes.

“I want to personally thank those who came forward and shared crucial information with our team. Your intel and cooperation are instrumental in helping us maintain the safety and security of our community.

“We take drug and immigration offences seriously at GMP, and today's operation alongside a number of partners demonstrates our unwavering commitment to public safety.

“This warrant sends another message to anyone who thinks they are above that the law, that these illegal activities will not be tolerated.”
