An arrest has been made after a 12-year-old boy was assaulted in Timperley on Friday 21 November 2025.
At around 6.30pm, the victim was walking down Stockport Road with two friends.
As they were walking along, a vehicle has driven from the direction of Shaftesbury Avenue and has pulled up and stopped alongside them.
The suspect got out the car and appeared to have a metal item in his hand.
The victim and his friends ran off and the suspect chased them, catching up with the victim where he was assaulted with the metal item, causing injuries to his back, hip and left leg.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault and is currently in custody.
There is thought to be no threat to the wider public and an investigation is still ongoing.
Detective Inspector Karl Perry from our Trafford district said: “We understand that this incident has alarmed the local community however we want to reassure the public that we believe there is no wider threat to the community.
“We are investigating this incident and currently have a male in custody who was arrested in suspicion of assault.
