In the spirit of Manchester hosting the Brit Awards this year at the Co-Op Live Arena we wanted to shine a light on some of our own award winners.
Wendy Docker – Awards and Recognition coordinator

Completely to her surprise – as she did not know she has even been nominated – Wendy was won the Unsung Hero Award by the Chief Constable.
This came as a complete surprise nomination following months of undercover work by Wendy’s fellow awards colleague Joanne Bradley, who even on the night had to pretend an award hadn’t shown up to ensure Wendy was caught by complete surprise!
Wendy works as an Awards and Recognition Coordinator, as well as this she also organises the annual Christmas Carol concert, the Remembrance Service at Sedgley Park, The Chief Constable Roadshows, monthly attestations and the Long Service awards ceremony.
Perhaps nowhere, however, is Wendy’s impact felt more profoundly than in her coordination of the Chief Constable’s Awards.
This flagship event is one of the biggest celebrations of excellence in GMP - recognising bravery, dedication, innovation, and outstanding service. It is a night that means so much to so many, and one that simply would not happen without Wendy’s meticulous planning, creativity, and ability to bring everything together seamlessly behind the scenes.
The Unsung Hero award goes to those who often fly under the radar whilst making the most impact. Wendy embodied that in 2025.
Congratulations, Wendy — thank you for everything you do to make GMP shine.
Wendy Docker said: “It was so lovely to be recognised for being a champion for reward and recognition within the force, but I really couldn’t do it without the support of many fantastic people around me both in my team and across the force.
“It felt amazing. I felt very humbled. It was such a surprise.
“What inspires me most in my job is the people within GMP.”
When asked about her favourite British artist and bands Wendy said: “I’d have to say Michael Ball seen him over 25 times!
“As a child of the 80’s I like lots of great British artists my favourite new band now is Red Rum Club.”
