Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information and witnesses following a road traffic collision in Salford.
At around 5.45pm on Saturday 24 January 2026, we were called to reports of a collision on Great Cheetham Street East between a Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian, where an 87-year-old man was struck whilst crossing the road.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, however he has since sadly died.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their investigation. No arrests have been made in relation to this incident, however an investigation into the collision will continue.
Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV footage, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the incident.
