Officers investigating reports of a suspicious item found in a front garden in Fallowfield have found a second suspicious item outside another property.
We were called to a suspicious item discovered on Abram Close shortly after 6:05pm yesterday (Saturday 6 June 2026).
Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) made an assessment and around 20 nearby properties were advised by officers to evacuate as a precaution.
As the investigation continued into today (Sunday 7 June) a second suspicious item was found outside a property on Rostherne Avenue at around 2:45pm this afternoon.
Officers and partner agencies are currently on the scene and a cordon is in place.
As a precaution, several houses in the area have been asked to evacuate while this work continues.
No arrests have been made but enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Morley, of our City of Manchester Division, said: “We thank everyone for their patience so far whilst we deal with this incident as our investigation into the full circumstances continues.
“Incidents such as these are likely to cause alarm in the local community, but please be reassured that there is no wider threat.
“A number of road closures are in place, please avoid the area and find alternative routes.
“Officers will be on hand to ensure the safety of people in the nearby area – please speak to them if you have any concerns.
