Our proactive knife crime team Operation Venture have continued their work across the force with the arrest of a man in possession of a large knife and drugs.
Officers were on patrol in Wythenshawe around Gladeside Road on Wednesday 3 June 2026 when they spotted a male behaving suspiciously on a Sur Ron bike shortly after 5.15pm. The male initially made off from officers after attempting to engage them in a pursuit however he was detained a short time later by one of our plain clothes officers.
After his arrest, he was found in possession of a large knife and a significant quantity of class b drugs. A house associated with the male was also searched and £1,000 in cash was recovered.
The 15-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of class b drugs. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Operation Venture Sergeant Mohammed Waqas said: "This is just another proactive stop from our officers in our bid to reduce knife crime. Operation Venture was set up in December 2022 and our team have so far made over 1,180 arrests and seized hundreds of weapons as we continue to keep our communities safe.
"Thank you to everyone who continues to report information to ourselves. We've seen first-hand the devastating impact knife crime can have on not only those directly affected by it but also the communities involved.
"Our officers will continue to work across Greater Manchester targeting hotspot areas, supporting communities and keeping people safe."
