Police are investigating following an assault which took place on St Petersgate, Stockport at around 9pm on Saturday 23 November 2019.
Enquiries have since established that a man entered a pub where the victim – a 36-year-old-man - was spending time with his friend. The man approached victim who then followed the offender outside. Once outside the man assaulted the victim.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Lisa Bradley from GMP’s Stockport Division said: “This was an extremely violent assault on a man who has suffered horrific injuries as a result of this criminal behaviour.
“We are treating this incident very seriously and I am particularly keen to speak to anyone that was on or around St Petersgate at the time of this vicious assault and may have heard or seen anything unusual or suspicious.
“If you can help our investigation please get in touch immediately.”
