Shortly after 5.15pm on Monday 7 October 2019, police were called to Stockport Road in Levenshulme to reports that a man had been shot.
An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Jen Tattersall, from GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “A man is in hospital with a gunshot wound and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“We are treating this as a targeted attack and we don’t believe there to be any threat posed to the wider public.
“I know something like this will cause some concern but I would like to reassure the community that extra officers have been deployed to patrol the area, and we are doing everything we can to find those responsible.”
“I would urge anyone who has any information about what happened to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
