A woman in Bury is making an emotional plea after a locket containing her dead son’s hair was stolen in a burglary.
The 73-year-old woman returned from holiday to find that she been burgled and a quantity of jewellery and medication had been stolen.
The jewellery included a locket which contained a lock of hair from the woman’s son who sadly passed away when he was 15.
The burglary occurred sometime between Sunday 5 January 2020 and Friday 10 January 2020 and was reported to police at around 12:15pm on Friday 10 January 2020.
Officers attended a property on Warth Fold Road, Radcliffe following the report.
It is believed that the offenders forced entry.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Police Constable Alex Camilleri, of GMP’s Bury division, said: “This is an awful incident that has devastated the victim- especially as one of the items which the offenders stole was a locket containing a lock of hair from her son, who has sadly passed away.
“This locket holds a great amount of sentimental value for the victim and we are doing all that we can to return this item to the rightful owner and bring those responsible to justice.
“If anyone has any information at all that could help us with our investigation, please speak to police as soon as possible.”
