At around 4.15pm on Saturday 4 January 2020, a red Vauxhall Combo MPV was turning right onto St Margaret’s Road, Prestwich at the junction with the Heaton Park entrance when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road towards the park.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian - a 76-year-old man – was taken to hospital where he sadly died the following day.
The driver of the vehicle - a 65-year-old woman - was uninjured.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time. We have specialist officers supporting them whilst we investigate the circumstances of this collision.
“I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dash cam footage of the collision or was in the area at the time. If anyone has any information that can assist our enquiries, please come forward as soon as possible. Even the smallest detail could prove vital as we piece together exactly what happened.”
